West Florida Edges UWA 2-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – In a matchup of the top two teams in the Gulf South Conference, the University of West Alabama men's soccer team fell just short Monday evening, as the Tigers fell, 2-0, to West Florida.

West Alabama moves to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the Gulf South Conference with the loss, while West Florida improves to 8-2-2 and 6-0-2 in the GSC.

In a game that was intense throughout, the two teams combined for six yellow cards in the contest. UWA freshman defender Danny McCarthy also picked up a red card at the 65-minute mark that caused the Tigers to play a man down the rest of the way.

The Argos started their scoring midway through the first half when sophomore defender Stephen Hohn hit a goal off the assist from Zach Reynolds to put UWF up 1-0.

West Alabama played stellar defense the rest of the way, but still the Argos were able to knock in a goal at the 87-minute mark to ice the game in the 2-0 West Florida win.
