CARROLTON, Ga. – West Alabama women's tennis picked up its third Gulf South Conference victory over West Georgia 7-2 on Wednesday.
UWA women's tennis now improves to 11-3 on the season; 3-3 in the conference. West Georgia now falls to 2-9 overall; 1-3 in the conference.
The Tigers won all but two matches on the day. West Alabama doubles No. 1
Jill Furlong and
Natalia Cardenas and doubles No. 2
Helga Jeske and
Emily Gerding both won their matches 8-2.
Jeske, Furlong, Cardenas, Gerding and
Dasha Popova all won their singles matches in two sets. Popova swept her match without allowing a point against West Georgia's Kelly Arsenault.
The Tigers will now travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. to take on Indianapolis on Saturday. The first match is set for 2:00 p.m.
