Tiger Tennis Faces Lynn in NCAA Regional

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's tennis team will face Lynn University in the first round of the 2013 NCAA South Regional in Pensacola, Fla. The match is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex.

The Tigers are 23-3 and come into regional play as the No. 6 seed. Lynn is 12-5 and the No. 3 seed. The other side of the bracket has No. 7 seed Florida Southern (14-9) meeting host and Gulf South Conference champion West Florida (23-1) in the opening round. The Argonauts are the second seed in the region.

“This is a great group of hard fighting tennis players who have accomplished a lot of positive things for West Alabama,” UWA head coach Glen Fanelli said. “We accomplished a lot this season, but there is still more to do. We are looking forward to this opportunity and working hard to make the most of it.”

The other side of the South Region bracket is hosted by top seed Barry University in Miami and includes an opening day match between No. 8 Stillman and No. 9 Alabama-Huntsville. The winner of that match meets Barry. No. 4 Rollins meets No. 5 Saint Leo in the other first round match.

West Alabama is coming off a runner-up finish in the GSC Tennis Tournament last week.
