Bernal, Lewis Earn GSC Track Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jakob Bernal and Adrienne Lewis earned weekly honors from the Gulf South Conference for their performances in the Southern Invitational hosted by Birmingham-Southern College last weekend.

Bernal earned men's track performer of the week by picking up a second-place finish for the Tigers in the men's 5000-meter run, clocking in at 15:40.93.

Lewis won the women's field performer of the week after winning the women's triple jump with a distance of 12.13m and placing second in the long jump with a leap of 5.70m. Her triple jump distance is a provisional qualifying leap.

Lewis is the UWA record holder in both the triple and long jumps but came up just short with last week's efforts.

West Alabama travels to Mobile for the Jaguar Opener this weekend on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
