Tiger Tennis Signs Christopher Bulus

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Christopher Bulus of Lagos, Nigeria has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his tennis career at the University of West Alabama. Bulus is transferring to UWA from New Mexico Military Institute.
 
Bulus represented Nigeria in the Junior Davis Cup, the Africa Youth Games and the African Junior Championships. He has been ranked as high as No. 328 in the world in juniors.
 
"We are excited to have Christopher joining the program to help us continue to build on the success of last year's men's team," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said.
 
Playing both No. 1 singles and doubles, Bulus helped NMMI to an eighth-place national finish in the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association's 2019 Division I Championships.
 
A NJCAA All-American both years at NMMI, Bulus finished 15-5 at No. 1 doubles over the 2019 season, 8-7 at No. 1 doubles and won the fall ITA Regional singles and doubles titles.
 
Bulus was ranked as high as No. 6 nationally by ITA in singles as a sophomore and as high as seventh in doubles. In 2018 he was ranked as high as fifth in singles and No. 7 in doubles.
 
He won the 2017 ITF Junior Circuit singles championship in Lome, Togo, defeating Sylvestre Mannou of Benin Republic 6-2, 6-1. As a 16-yeqr-old he finished second in the final of the 2017 of the ITF U-18 Circuit.
