Tiger Wranglers Back in Action

SIKESTON, Mo. – The University of West Alabama Rodeo teams will return to action following a three-week hiatus when the Tiger Wranglers compete in the Three Rivers College Championship College Rodeo beginning Thursday at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Grounds.

Performances for Thursday and Friday begin at 7 p.m., with Saturday's action getting underway at 3 p.m. Gates will open one hour before start time.

Slack competition follows the performance on Thursday and again at 9 a.m. on Friday. Admission to slack events on Friday is free.

The Tiger Wrangles are among some 300 competitors from the Ozark Region who are expected to compete in this weekend's events. There will be competition in bull riding, bareback bronc riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, goat tying and various roping competitions.

The West Alabama men are fourth in the Ozark Region team standings after two rodeos. The women are sixth.

Jacob Watt is the top team roping heeler in the region, while Heather McLaughlin is third in goat tying and Chase Graves is fifth in tie down roping.

JT Ellison (tie down roping, steer wrestling), Cooper Malone (tie down roping, team roping heeler), Trevor Colby (steer wrestling) and Aldyn Ashton (breakaway roping) are all in the Ozark Region top 10 after the first two events of the fall.
