UWA Softball Set for Red-White-Blue Classic

West Alabama steps out of Gulf South Conference play in the Cougar Red-White-Blue Classic against Lynn University, Erskine College and the hosts Columbus State University.

WHEN 
UWA faces Lynn Friday night at 4 p.m. and Columbus State at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers start Saturday against Lynn once more at 9 a.m. and conclude with Erskine at 1 p.m. All times central. 
 
HISTORY
Tigers vs. Erskine: First ever meeting.
Tigers vs. Columbus State: CSU leads 17-8 in 25 games.
Tigers vs. Lynn: Lynn leads 1-0 in the only matchup.

WEST ALABAMA
The Tigers are 5-13 will be playing out of conference opponents for the first time since Feb. 9 during the Florida Tech invitational. UWA dropped all three games last weekend in a GSC series against Alabama Huntsville on the road. 

LYNN
The Fighting Knights are 9-12 at the time of this release and will face Erskine before playing the Tigers. Lynn is currently on a three-game winning streak with the first SSC win of the year over Florida Tech and a doubleheader sweep over Queens (N.Y.).
 
COLUMBUS STATE
The Cougars are 7-8 coming into the weekend and will face Erskine before playing UWA later on Friday. CSU split a doubleheader against Wingate last Saturday at home. 
 
ERSKINE
The Flying Fleet enter the weekend 3-12 overall and have posted a 0-2 record in Conference Carolinas competition. Erskine is on a three-game slide with the last two coming an a doubleheader loss to Belmont Abbey College in conference action.
 
COACHES
Carie Dever-Boaz is 76-97. (.439) in her 4th season as head coach of UWA Softball, 316-371-1 (.459) in 26 seasons as a collegiate head coach. Jill Moore is 25-48 (.342) in her 2nd season as a head coach, both at Lynn. Brad Huskisson is 353-254 (.581) in 12 full time seasons at Columbus State, 426-292 (.593) in his 15th season as a head coach. Alleen Hawkins is 425-442 (.490) in her 20th season at Erskine, 920-820-2 (.528) in 42 seasons as a head coach.
