DALLAS – Senior wide receiver Tyriq Martin has been invited to attend the 2022 Cajun All-Star Bowl on Wednesday, Feb. 9 – Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, in Beaumont, Texas.
The Goose Creek, S.C. native, has been a significant asset to the West Alabama football team for the past four seasons. Martin played in 36 games for 152 receptions, 2,137 yards, and 22 touchdowns during that time. He ranks fourth on the Tigers All-Time Receiving Yards List with one year of eligibility left due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Invitations to the Cajun All-Star Bowl are extended to those who have third-round pre-draft evaluation grade and related tier. The event consists of a weigh-in and player measurements in front of NFL pro personnel and CFL pro personnel, two days of practice, and one all-star game.
The bowl is held in partnership with Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Lamar University Ticketing Office, and a host of national beat writers and other national sports reporters to ensure national coverage of all invited players. All-star game participation has been known to increase a player's chance of evaluation by 400% outside of Pro Day alone.
Martin and the UWA football team finished 7-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play in the eighth season of head coach Brett Gilliland. Gilliland received his 50th career win, and the Tigers spent most of the season ranked among the top-25 teams in the nation.
Martin received All-GSC First Team honors for his effort on the field during the fall 2021 season.
