Postponements, Changes For Weekend Tiger Sports

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Expected inclement weather for the weekend and into the first of next week has forced a handful of changes and postponements for University of West Alabama athletic teams this weekend.

The UWA women's soccer match scheduled for Saturday at Delta State has been postponed due to extreme winter weather conditions expected in the Mississippi Delta. The match will be rescheduled for a later date, likely in early March.

Men's and women's tennis matches scheduled for Saturday against Shorter at the Vaughan Tennis Complex have also been postponed. Makeup dates have not yet been set.

The Tiger softball team played a pair of games on Friday, but will not play on Saturday as originally scheduled. UWA opens its GSC season with a single game Friday at West Florida followed by a Saturday doubleheader.

Women's basketball games originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, then moved to Sunday and Monday, have been shifted again to accommodate travel concerns for the Lady Choctaws. The two-game set will now be played on Saturday and Sunday at 2 and 3 p.m., respectively, at Pruitt Hall Gym.

Men's basketball was scheduled to play at Mississippi College Friday and Saturday, but those games were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The Tigers return to action Tuesday for the first of two-games at Delta State.

UWA baseball's home opening series against Mississippi College will begin with a single game on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Tiger men's soccer team will open its regular season Saturday at 4 p.m. against reigning Gulf South Conference champion Lee at Brahan Spring Park Football Field in Huntsville, Alabama. Although the match is against Lee, it will not count as a GSC contest.
