Box Score 2 LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The Tigers split the doubleheader non-conference game between West Alabama and Mississippi College Wednesday evening at MC Softball Complex.
"We played some great ball tonight," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said. "We had some clutch hits adn two solid performances from Kacy Noland and Kaeleigh Crutchfield. We had a solid game plan that we executed to prep for AUM."
The Tigers moved to 18-20 overall and 11-16 in GSC play. The Choctaws are now 16-16 overall and 12-11 in the conference.
Game One
West Alabama defeated the Choctaws 8-4 to take the win in game one.
Grace Self's RBI single put the Tigers on the scoreboard in the second, scoring Abby McKee to put UWA up 1-0.
In the third, West Alabama added a run when McKee's sacrifice bunt scored Cassie Matlock.
The Tigers stayed strong in the fourth and scored two more runs to allow UWA to continue the lead, 4-1.
In the fifth, West Alabama added another two runs by Morgan Windham stealing home and Grace Self's RBI single scoring McKee.
The Choctaws cut the lead in the fifth by adding one run putting the score at 6-2.
UWA closed out the game by scoring a run in both the sixth and seventh inning to put the final at 8-4.
Self led the Tigers and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.
Kacy Noland (8-9) pitched the complete game. Noland gave up four earned runs on 10 hits and five strikeouts.
Game Two
West Alabama fell short to the Choctaws in game two, 3-2.
Mississippi College scored a run in the first and added two more runs in the fifth and sixth.
The Tigers put up two runs in the third. Kailey Hunt scored on a Choctaw fielding error and Noland's RBI single scored Matlock.
West Alabama fought hard but could not get the hits and fell short to Mississippi College, 3-2.
Kaeleigh Crutchfield (5-2) absorbed the loss for UWA. She pitched the complete game giving up three earned runs on nine hits and striking out two.
West Alabama returns to action April 30th for a single game against Auburn Montgomery at the UWA Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
