Johnson Sisters Sign with UWA Track

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After a season in which program records were set and broken multiple times, the University of West Alabama Track and Field team has added to the talent pool as Kyla and Kaylen Johnson have both signed National Letters of Intent to join the Tigers.
 
Natives of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Kyla and Kaylen Johnson come to the program as juniors after running for Meridian Community College. They both are graduates of Center Hill High School in Olive Branch.
 
Kyla Johnson has posted personal records of 12.19 seconds in the 100 meters and 26.51 seconds in the 200 meters at MCC. She also posted a time of 7.73 seconds in the 60-meter dash for indoor track.
 
Kaylen Johnson ran personal bests of 11.93 seconds in the 100, 25.64 seconds in 200 meters and 7.73 seconds in the indoor 60 meters in her time as an Eagle. She took home first place in the I-20 Twilight on April 22 after finishing the 100 in 11.95 seconds. The sprinter came in second in the 100 at the 2021 Mississippi College Opener and placed second in 12.01 seconds in the 100 at the Carey Outdoor Challenge.
 
Kyla and Kaylen Johnson join Camrun Norman as part of the incoming 2021-22 signing class for the Tigers.
