Anderson and Lewis Named D2CCA First Team All-Super Region Two

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama linebacker Michael Anderson and safety Shamar Lewis have been named to the 2022 Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) All-Super Region Two Football Team. Anderson and Lewis both earned first team honors.

"It is exciting for these guys to get recognized," head coach Brett Gilliland said. "It is a tremendous honor, and these guys are well deserving."

Anderson, a graduate student from Chatom, Alabama, served as UWA's team captain. Anderson led the GSC and the Tigers with 96 tackles, 69 solo and 27 assisted tackles. He ranked sixth nationally in solo tackles. 

Anderson ranked fifth in the GSC for tackles for loss with 10 for 36 yards. He is also ranked 13 in the conference with three sacks. He added two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and three QB hurries on the season. Anderson made a season-high of 13 tackles against Valdosta State on Oct. 8. 

Anderson has collected multiple accolades this season. Anderson was named Preseason All-GSC, First Team All-GSC, and GSC Defensive Player of the Year. 

Lewis, a senior from Dixon Mills, Alabama, also served as UWA's team captain. He made 53 tackles, 45 solo and eight assisted tackles. Lewis has three tackles for loss and made two interceptions this season. Lewis ranked 11th in the GSC for interceptions. Lewis had a season-high of 10 tackles against North Greenville on Oct. 22.

This is Lewis's third accolade this season, second post-season award. Lewis was named Preseason All-GSC and First Team All-GSC. 

The Super Region Two Football Team consists of teams from the Gulf South Conference, the South Atlantic Conference, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Conference Carolinas.
