Tiger Track Has Strong Showing at the Falcon Classic

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – West Alabama track and field competed in the Falcon Classic at Montevallo Saturday afternoon at the Track and Field/Lacrosse Stadium.

The Tigers had another strong showing winning eight different events and placing in the top three in 17 events.

"This meet brought another opportunity for our athletes to work on managing the meet and executing our training," head track and field coach Kirby Walker said. "Many of them are positioning themselves to earn a spot at the NCAA Championship meet, which will be a right well-earned."

Kaitlin Hill won the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.71 and won the women's long jump with a jump of 6.16 meters.

The Tigers dominated the women's 200-dash with the top three spots being UWA's Myflore Methelus winning with a time of 24.92 seconds, Kaylen Johnson placing second at 25.40, and Alexis Sturdivant coming in at third with a time of 25.89.

Sturdivant won the women's 400-dash with a time of 58.30.

Hill, Methelus, Annaya Chelcy, and Johnson won the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.22 seconds. Zavannah Brown, Jordan Conner, Savannah Williams, and Sturdivant won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:04.66.

Demetrius Jackson, Brayden Harris, Jaqaun Webb, and Corey Murray won the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:22.91.

Camrun Norman won the men's high jump with a jump of 1.96 meters. Jackson and Norman placed second and third in the men's long jump.
