Tiger Track Has Success at Mississippi College Opener

CLINTON, Miss. – West Alabama track and field began its season Saturday at the Mississippi College Opener with lots of success winning five different events.

"Today was a productive season opener for our group. They produced several national qualifying marks and personal marks. We are happy with the results and are looking forward to bettering the marks at the next meet," head track and field coach Kirby Patterson Walker said.

The Tigers won the women's 4x400-meter relay with Zavannah Brown, Annaya Chelcy, Jordan Conner, and Savannah Williams running the event with a time of 4:09.49

UWA also came out on top by winning the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 46.69. The team consisted of Chelcy, Kaitlin Hill, Myflore Methelus, Kaylen Johnson.

Hill also came out on top in the women's long jump, jumping a total of 6.03 meters and winning the women's 100 dash with a time of 11.49. Williams finished in third place of the women's 400 dash with a time of 1:01.83.

In the men's high jump, Camrun Norman finished in first place with a jump of 2.05 Meters. James Woods had a second-place finish in the men's long jump of 7.16 Meters.

Brayden Harris finished in second place in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 58.60 and placed third in the men's 110 hurdles with a time of 15.42.
