LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Women's Track and Field athlete J'Da Williams was named the GSC Outdoor Freshman of the Year by the conference on Tuesday.
Williams earned the honor after being named GSC Freshman of the Week three times during the season.
UWA's standout sprinter excelled at the GSC Championships, bringing home three medals. Williams claimed the GSC title in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds, the 14th-fastest mark in the nation. She also helped West Alabama secure a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay and placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.10 seconds.
Throughout the outdoor season, Williams consistently dominated the 100-meter event, placing first in four of her five meets. The freshman set a new personal record at the Ole Miss Classic, finishing in 11.34 seconds which currently stands as the seventh-fastest time in Division II.
Williams has already made a significant impact in her first season with the Tigers and now turns her attention to the NCAA National Championships, set for May 21–23 in Emporia, Kansas.
