UWA Softball is Set to Host Delta State for Final Home Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama softball team is set to host Delta State in a three-game Gulf South Conference series for its final home series at UWA Softball Complex.

The Tigers open up the series with a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. UWA closes out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday with a start time at 1 p.m. Senior recognition will be held on Saturday before the game at 12:35 p.m.

The Tigers are 22-19 overall and are 12-12 in GSC play. The Statesmen bring a 19-23 overall record to Livingston and are 8-13 in the conference.

Cassie Matlock is leading the Tigers and the GSC with a .444 batting average. The senior outfielder has tallied 55 hits on 124 at bats with eight doubles, four triples and two home runs. She has collected 28 RBIs and scored 38 runs. She has stolen 27 bases on her 32 attempts. She is ranked fourth in the GSC for hits and triples, and second for runs scored and stolen bases.

Kacy Noland is hitting .376, ranking her 12th in the GSC. The pitcher has 133 at bats, 50 hits with 12 doubles, two triples, and seven home runs. She has recorded 44 RBIs and has scored 35 runs. Her 133 at bats ranks her fifth in the GSC, sixth for hits, third for doubles, 15th for triples, 10th in runs scored, and first in hit by pitch.

Hannah Mynard and LP Trammell are also on the GSC leader board in doubles. Mynard is ranked fourth with 11 doubles and Trammell is ranked ninth with 10. Kelsie Gilliam is ranked ninth in the conference for stolen bases with 16.

Mynard is leading the Tigers' pitchers with 85 strikeouts, ranking her fifth in the GSC over 104.2 innings. She has also claimed 11 wins in the circle, ranking her fifth in the conference.

As a unit, UWA is ranked fourth by the NCAA Division II College Softball rankings for stolen bases per game and fifth in total stolen bases. The Tigers average 6.59 runs per game, which is ranked 30th in total runs for Division II.

Alana Walker is hitting .370 for Delta State. She has 37 hits with three doubles. She has collected eight RBIs and 18 runs scored.
