UWA Basketball Signs Myron Washington

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Head men's basketball coach Nick Woodruff is pleased to announce the signing of Myron Washington. The junior center joins the Tigers after starting his collegiate career at Dodge City Community College.

"Adding Myron is a great addition to our program," stated Woodruff. "Size and shot blocking are extremely hard to find, and we got a great one with him."

Washington has played in a total of 64 games and has started in 23 of them during his collegiate career. He has accumulated 283 points, 245 rebounds, and 159 blocks.

Prior to joining the Tigers, Washington went to Lamar State College Port Arthur where he played in 30 games and had 15 starts. He led the country in blocked shots with 105 during the 2021-22 season.

"Leading the country in blocked shots and playing in Region 14 is really hard to do," Woodruff said. "We are excited about student-athletes that want to be in our program and when we offered Myron he was thrilled to be a Tiger."

The Monroe, La. native shot 53.2 percent from the field and averaged 3.7 points per game, 3.5 blocks per game, and 3.1 rebounds per game as the Seahawks finished their 2021-22 season with a 20-12 overall record and went 11-8 in the conference.

Washington spent his 2020-21 season at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kan. Prior to that, Washington started his collegiate career at Dodge City Community College. He played in 31 games and started in eight of them. He averaged 5.4 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 1.8 blocks per game.

Washington graduated high school in 2019 from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, La. The Lions finished 32-11 overall and 11-2 in district play during his senior season.
