Softball is Set to Host Montevallo in GSC Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama softball team is set to host Montevallo in a Gulf South Conference three-game home series beginning on Friday at UWA Softball Complex.

UWA will open the series against the Falcons with a single game on Friday at 4 p.m. The doubleheader will be on Saturday with a start time at 1 p.m.

The Tigers head into the weekend with a 17-16 overall record and are 9-9 in GSC play. The Falcons bring a 20-13 overall record to Livingston and are 10-6 in the conference.

Cassie Matlock is leading the Tigers with a .374 batting average, ranking her 12th in the GSC. The senior outfielder has 99 at bats and 37 hits with six doubles and three triples. She is ranked ninth in the GSC for hits and triples.

Kacy Noland is hitting .370 for UWA. The first baseman has 108 at bats, 40 hits with 10 doubles, two triples, and three home runs. Her 108 at bats ranks her sixth in the GSC, fourth for hits, third for doubles, and 14th for triples. Noland has collected 30 RBIs, ranking her seventh in the conference, along with being ranked 11th for runs scored with a total of 27.

LP Trammell is hitting .318 for the Tigers. The junior shortstop has 27 hits with 10 doubles and six home runs. Trammell is ranked fourth in the GSC for doubles and 13th for home runs. She is also ranked ninth in the conference for runs scored with a total of 28.

Breanna Fortenberry is the leading UWA pitchers with a 2.45 ERA. She has given up three earned runs, struck out seven, and walked two over 11 innings of work.

Noland has a 4.55 ERA over 63.1 innings of work. She has given up 32 earned runs, struck out 33, and walked 29.

Montevallo junior Lauren Hamby is leading the Falcon hitters with a .364 batting average. She had 77 at bats, 28 hits with six doubles and three home runs.

Sophomore Kaylee Hawkins leads Montevallo's pitchers with a 3.16 ERA. She has given up 34 earned runs, struck out 69, and walked 29 over 75.1 innings of work.

Both live stats and live stream are available for the series. Janet Montgomery is going live for play-by-play on Saturday, but will not be calling the game on Friday.
