Women's Rodeo Wins Ozark Region Regular Season Title

SENATOBIA, Miss. – West Alabama women's rodeo has officially won the 2022 Ozark Region Regular Season Championship after winning five rodeos during the regular season and have qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo on June 12^th-18^th in Casper, Wyoming.

The championship is the first time the UWA Cowgirls have won the Ozark Region since the 2005-2006 regular season.

Heather McLaughlin was named Women's All-Around Champion scoring 1,602 total points during the season and a home Goat Tying Champion honors with 1,255 points.

Rebecca St. Martin's horse named Checks, earned Horse of the Year which is one of the most prestigious awards in college rodeo. All contestants in the Ozark Region vote on the award. Martin finished the regular season in second place in barrel racing with 755 points.

Bethany Stallons finished the regular season in second place with 495 total points in breakaway roping.

On the men's side, Chase Graves had a second-place finish to the season with 715 points as the heeler in team roping and will get to compete individually at the CNFR.

The Tiger cowboys and cowgirls competed at the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rodeo on Thursday through Saturday at the Northwest Farm Multipurpose Arena in Senatobia, Miss. Missouri Valley College won the final rodeo of the regular season on both sides.

JT Ellison tallied 45 points in steer wrestling as the men finished in ninth place and the women did not register any points at the NWCC Rodeo.
