Davis Joins UWA Men’s Basketball Staff

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Former UWA men's basketball guard Robert Davis joined the men's basketball staff as the graduate assistant coach announced by head coach Nick Woodruff. 

"It is always an exciting time when we can add a good person to the program," Woodruff said. "It is even better when it is a former student-athlete that is part of the family. Rob is part of the family and will bring a wealth of experience to pass on to our student-athletes next season."

"He was an integral part of our championship season last year," Woodruff said. "He is a hard worker, disciplined, has knowledge of the league, and will be an essential part of our staff moving forward. He has a bright future in coaching, and I am excited to see him grow into it."    

Davis graduated from UWA with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in May 2022.  He played under coach Woodruff for two seasons.

During the 2021-22 season, Davis averaged 9.6 points per game. In his first season as a Tiger, Davis averaged 10.5 points per game.

Davis will be assisting the coaching staff in daily operations of the program, coaching student-athletes, and helping staff out with recruiting.

"I want to thank Coach Woodruff for the opportunity to continue my journey at UWA and to help student-athletes reach their goal," Davis said. "My goal has always been to help those coming after me and share wisdom about the game of basketball."
 
"Being on the staff at UWA will give me that chance, and I am excited about next year," Davis added.

Davis will be pursuing his master's degree in sports management.
