ITA Names 11 Tigers as Scholar-Athletes, Both Teams Earn All-Academic Team Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of West Alabama tennis program had 11 student-athletes honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association by being named 2022 ITA Scholar-Athletes and both teams were named 2022 Division II All-Academic Teams.

"I am very proud of how our teams excelled in the classroom. We want to continue the hard work on the court and in the classroom with the goal of graduating every tennis player," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above, all student-athletes must be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

The UWA men's ITA Scholar-Athletes include Fabian Billton, Loic Danze, Ilia Dehodiuk, Lucas Hammond, Marcel Hornung, and Jared Pierce. The UWA women's ITA Scholar-Athletes include Valeria Arevalo, Morgan Bishop, Katia de la Garza, Emiri Takanishi, and Hardija Vidnere.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, an athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.5 from the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
