WACO, Texas – Following the shutout 31-0 road victory at Miles College, the West Alabama football team continues to climb in the receiving votes category of the American Football Coaches Association Poll.
UWA is now up to 43 votes, which would rank them 32nd if the poll extended past the top-25. With some of the other results from this weekend, West Florida moved to sixth and West Georgia is ranked eighth to represent the Gulf South Conference in the top-10. Valdosta State fell back to 15th following their loss to Virginia Union.
The Tigers are off to a strong start to the 2022 season picking up a pair of road victories against Morehouse (24-16) and Miles College (31-0). With the win over Miles, UWA has now won five straight games against in-state opponents.
UWA will look forward to a home stretch coming up with three straight games inside Tiger Stadium. The Tigers will host Tuskegee this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Then West Georgia will come to Livingston on Sep. 24 and Shorter on Oct. 1. Both of those kickoffs are set for 2 p.m.
