Franco Earns Second GSC Player of The Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Haina Franco won her second Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award based on her performance against Auburn Montgomery and Lynn University.

"Haina continues to have a dominant year and this past week was another one for her," head coach Jeff Beaman said.

The Tigers defeated Auburn Montgomery in a GSC match, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon. Paired with Ming Deewajee, the duo defeated AUM's Estefania Garcia and Regina Urbiola on court No. 1, 6-2. In singles play, Franco clinched the overall win for the Tigers by defeating AUM's Estefania Garcia in a three-set battle on court No. 1, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

Sunday afternoon, the Tigers were defeated by No. Lynn University in a non-conference match 4-2. Still paired with Deewajee, the duo defeated LU's Zofia Podbiol and Greta Schieroni, 6-3 on court No. 1.

Franco and the Tigers will be back at Vaughan Tennis Complex on Sunday for a non-conference match against LA Tech. The first serve is set for 2 p.m.
