LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Volleyball team (2-21, 0-13 GSC) will face Alabama Huntsville (20-3, 11-2 GSC) at home on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in a Gulf South Conference matchup.
The Tigers will look to secure their first conference victory of the season and break their current streak, aiming to disrupt the Chargers' solid momentum.
Offensively, West Alabama has averaged a .050 hitting percentage with 552 kills over 1,954 attempts. Leading the attack,
Jaida Alvin has tallied 164 kills this season, supported by her teammates
Peyton Quesnel and
Taylor Lamontagne. The Tigers' offense, averaging 8.6 kills per set, will need to capitalize on scoring chances and maintain consistency against UAH's defensive front.
On the defensive side, West Alabama averages 11.0 digs per set, led by
Maggie Roddam with 172 digs and
Taylor Lamontagne with 101. UWA has recorded 107 blocks at the net, with
Gracie Pierscinski and
Gracie Huver leading in block assists. Limiting attack errors and improving efficiency will be critical against the Chargers, who have averaged 13.1 kills per set with a .216 hitting percentage.
Alabama Huntsville brings a formidable lineup, with standout players contributing on offense and defense. Autumn Mayes has been a powerhouse for the Chargers with 251 kills this season, while Caroline Moyer and Grace-Blythe Cornett provide support with 193 and 151 kills, respectively. Defensively, libero Tatiana Bonilla leads the back row with 325 digs, and setters Savannah Rutledge and Ashleigh Murr have combined for 701 assists, orchestrating UAH's fast-paced attack. With 143 service aces and 2.8 blocks per set, the Chargers' well-rounded roster poses a strong challenge for the Tigers.
