Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - In one of their final road trips of the season, West Alabama (2-27, 0-19 Gulf South) dropped a hard-fought match to Union (10-18, 8-11 Gulf South) in four sets (12-25, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25) on Friday.
Union capitalized on efficient hitting and a balanced attack, while UWA showed resilience but ultimately fell short.
The Tigers battled in a four-set match against the Bulldogs, with
Jaida Alvin delivering a standout performance. Alvin led the Tigers with 15 kills, three service aces, and 15 digs.
KB Kinney followed closely, adding 12 kills and 16 assists, while
Audrey Oakley contributed nine kills.
Gracie Huver anchored the defense with three blocks and added a service ace. As a team, UWA recorded a hitting percentage of .162, with their most efficient set coming in the second at .222. Â
Union countered with a steady offensive and defensive display. Jordan Moore paced the Bulldogs with 11 kills, while Reese Owens added eight. Setter Ashley Pruitt directed the offense with 31 assists and also served three aces. Defensively, Union held strong with Owens leading in digs (9), supported by Marie Torosian and Dylan Tolliver, each adding seven. Union posted a hitting percentage of .260, including an impressive .292 in the first set. Â
With this result, West Alabama looks to finish the season strong in their final match on Saturday, November 16th, against Christian Brothers at 2 p.m. in Memphis, TN.
