TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of West Alabama men's tennis team remains in place at No. 19 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings.
The Tigers opened the season against a Division I opponent in Alabama State on Feb. 7, where they were defeated by the Hornets 6-1.
West Alabama excelled in doubles, with Lucas Hammond and Wilson Igbinovia, the 20th-ranked doubles combo in Division II, taking a 6-3 victory in the opening contest.
Nuutti Jokinen and Federico Iturbe followed suit with a 7-5 decision over the Hornets.
The men followed their initial outing with a trip to then No. 6 ranked Columbus State on Feb. 10, falling to the Cougars 6-1 on the road.
UWA will travel to Rome, Georgia this weekend to take on Gulf South Conference opponent Shorter on Friday. The next day, they will take on North Georgia, who is receiving votes in the ITA poll, to close out the weekend trip.
