HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up competition at the Chargers XC Invitational on Saturday morning, posting strong results in a deep field that featured several Gulf South Conference opponents.
On the men's side, Mathis Breton led the Tigers in the 8K with a time of 25:39.10, followed closely by Gary Mata, who crossed the line in 25:47.20. As a team, the Tigers earned a 10th-place finish, marking a top-ten performance alongside conference contenders Alabama-Huntsville and Lee.
For the women, Mercy Lomuria continued her standout freshman campaign, finishing 20th overall in the 5K with a time of 22:03.4—a new personal record. Miriam Dominguez-Tellez was the next Tiger to finish, clocking a 24:04.15, also setting a new PR.
Up next, the Tigers will travel to Memphis, Tenn., to compete in the Gulf South Conference Championships on October 25, 2025, as they look to close out the regular season with continued progress and momentum.
