LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's soccer team looks to extend its unbeaten start in Gulf South Conference play when the Tigers host Auburn-Montgomery on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium before traveling to face Montevallo on Sunday, October 5 at 3:30 p.m.
The Tigers (3-2-1, 3-0 GSC) have found their stride in conference play, outscoring league opponents 11-9 overall this season. West Alabama is averaging 1.83 goals per match while holding opponents to 1.50. Junior forward David Nunez leads the attack with six goals and 13 points on the year, including two game-winners and a perfect 2-for-2 from the penalty spot. Harrison Page has added one goal and one assist, while Gonzalo Rawinad and Kyrylo Peregudov have also chipped in a goal each. Goalkeeper Charlie Walker has played every minute in net, making 15 saves and recording one shutout.
Auburn-Montgomery (4-1-2, 1-0-1 GSC) enters Friday's contest unbeaten in its last five matches. The Warhawks are averaging 2.00 goals per game while allowing less than one per outing (0.86). Benjamin Hoffmann leads AUM with five goals, while Sean O'Donnell has added three goals and two game-winners. Defensively, goalkeeper Matteo Maccagnihas been strong in net, posting a 0.67 goals-against average with two shutouts.
On Sunday, the Tigers will travel to Montevallo (2-2-3, 1-0-1 GSC), a team that has played in three draws already this season. The Falcons are led by Dominic Kienzle, who has scored seven of the team's 12 goals and added one assist for 15 points. Goalkeeper Andre Etcheverry has made 18 saves while logging one shutout.
West Alabama will look to continue its momentum in GSC play as the Tigers push for the top of the conference standings.
