LIVINGSTON, Ala. — West Alabama senior Bellah Machen was named the Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week following a strong two-game stretch, marking the program's first Player of the Week honor since Bria Dent earned the distinction on Nov. 29, 2022.
Machen currently ranks second in the Gulf South Conference in scoring at 16.3 points per game and leads the Tigers offensively at the same mark. She is shooting an efficient 48 percent from the field on the season.
The junior turned in a career performance against Lee, scoring a personal-best 27 points while shooting 60 percent from the floor. Machen knocked down five three-pointers, added three steals, and played all 40 minutes in the contest. She followed that effort with 15 points against Trevecca, continuing her consistent production.
Machen's scoring efficiency and steady presence have been key for West Alabama as the Tigers continue conference play.
