CASPER, Wyo. - The University of West Alabama Rodeo program concluded the College National Finals Rodeo with one top-10 individual finish, coming from Joanna Hammett on Saturday.
Hammett continued to showcase consistency in the Goat Tying Event as the senior ended the CNFR with a 6.8 time in the Championship Round. Hammett's performance on Saturday marked her third run of under seven seconds on the week, moving her average to 27.2. The senior's average put her in seventh place which stands as the highest placement amongst UWA's 10 participants this week.Â
Ashley Henderson picked up an 11th place finish in the Breakaway Roping. Henderson put together times of 4.1, 3.0, and 2.7 through the first three rounds which put her in seventh place as we entered Championship night. The Graduate Student didn't register a time after her calf got out of the pen slowly, dropping her to 11th in the average.
Kota Wilhite came into Saturday night in 11th place in the Tie Down Roping with an average of 40.0 through the first three rounds. The Graduate Student didn't register a time in the Championship Round on Saturday as he closed the CNFR with a 12th place finish.Â
Amongst the other seven West Alabama participants on the week, Katelyn Carney finished 34th in the Barrel Racing while Sydney Poole finished 45th, Cooper Cowan finished 15th in the Tie Down Roping while Tanner Brown and Clarke Gordon finished 18th, Wilder Andrews finished 32nd in the Steer Wrestling, Tanner Brown finished 13th in the Tie Down Roping while Stone Reeves finished 38th, Poole finished 53rd in the Breakaway Roping.
