Poole Announces 2025 Rodeo Recruiting Class

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After another advancement to the College National Finals Rodeo this past season, the University of West Alabama Rodeo Programs reloaded their rosters with the addition of 13 new signees.

Under the leadership of head coach Daniel Poole, the Tigers' Women's Team signed eight athletes in the recruiting cycle while the Men's Team added five.

WOMEN'S RODEO SIGNEES
Erin McLaughlin | Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing 
McLaughlin is a transfer from Pearl River Community College, joining UWA as a Junior. McLaughlin holds a plethora of accolades to her name such as the FLBRA All-Around Champion and the Reserve Goat Tying Champion. The Junior also helped PRCC to a Reserve Ozark Region Championship in 2024, and will now compete against her former school with West Alabama.

Darby Toole | Barrel Racing, Breakaway Roping
After competing with NWCC for two years, Toole will join UWA as a Junior in the Fall. Hailing from Hernando, Mississippi, Toole will lift West Alabama's efforts in the Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping events. The incoming Junior is a five-time NLBRA Finals Qualifier and the 2022 NLBRA Barrel Racing Reserve Champion.

Allie Sherman | Barrel Racing 
Sherman is slated to make an immediate impact for the Tigers in 2025-2026. The Barrel Racer brings her talents to West Alabama after competing with UT Martin. In the past two seasons, Sherman finished sixth in the Ozark Region. The Barrel Racer will join the Tigers as a Graduate Transfer, bringing a wealth of experience and talent to the roster.

Aubrey Mills | Barrel Racing 
After finishing in the top-five in the MHSRA in the Barrel Racing event a couple of months ago, Mills will make the two hour trek from Leakesville, Mississippi to Livingston in August to make West Alabama her new home. 

Andi Norwood | Breakaway Roping
Norwood is slated to join UWA as a sophomore and will provide more depth to the Breakaway Roping event. A native of Trenton, Georgia, Norwood is the reigning ALBRA Champion in Breakaway Roping and is a former qualifier for the NLBRA Finals.

Avery Pilgram | Barrel Racing
Pilgram joins West Alabama from Rome, Georgia. As a Barrel Racer, the incoming freshman is the reigning NBHA GA Youth Reserve Champion.

Morgan Ward | Breakaway Roping, Team Roping
Hailing from Gaylesville, Alabama, Ward will make her collegiate debut with UWA. Ward is as consistent as they come. The incoming freshman is a five-time NLBRA Finals Qualifier, leading to top-five rankings in both the Alabama High School Rodeo Association and the Alabama Little Britches Rodeo Association.

Madison Murphy | Barrel Racing 
Murphy is set to begin her collegiate rodeo journey this Fall with the Tigers. A product of Fort Myers, FL, Murphy is a Junior NFR Reserve Champion in Barrel Racing. Along with that feat, Murphy carries the title of the Josey Junior Reserve Champion in Barrel Racing and will bolster that event for West Alabama that already features the reigning Ozark Region Reserve Champion, Katelyn Carney.

MEN'S RODEO SIGNEES 
Austin Brooks | Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, Team Roping 
Brooks will catapult his collegiate career with the Tigers this upcoming fall. Brooks sent shockwaves across the state and was known as one of the top Cowboys in the area after being crowned the 2024 Alabama High School Rodeo All-Around Champion. The incoming freshman is also a two-time Steer Wrestling Champion and the 2023 Southeastern Youth Rodeo Association Tie Down Roping Champion.

Sam McBride | Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, Team Roping
McBride brings a level of versatility to West Alabama's roster that can lead to immediate opportunities for the incoming freshman. McBride is the 2024 MSHSRA Tie Down Roper and Roping Header Reserve Champion all while carrying a 2023 MS High School Steer Wrestling Championship.

Eli Day | Tie Down Roping, Team Roping
Even while coming in as a freshman, Day has a ton of experience under his belt. The Fort Payne, Alabama native is an eight-time NLBRA Finals Qualifier in the Tie Down Roping and Team Roping events, while also qualifying for the National High School Rodeo.

Todd Huey | Bareback Riding, Bull Riding
Huey brings his talents to Livingston after competing in the State of Georgia for majority of his pre-college rodeo career. Hailing from Franklin, Georgia, Huey, is a National High School Rodeo Finals Qualifier and a Georgia High School State Finals Qualifier.

Logan Crook | Bull Riding 
Crook is set to bring depth and skill to UWA, particularly in the Bull Riding event. Similar to his now freshman teammate in Todd Huey, Crook competed in the National High School Finals and the Georgia High School Rodeo State Finals in the Bull Riding, going up against his fellow Tiger. 

All 13 signees are set to arrive on campus in August.
