LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's soccer program earned preseason recognition from the Gulf South Conference as two returning Tigers were named to the GSC Preseason All-Conference Team, while three newcomers were selected to the conference's Newcomers Watchlist.
Sophomores Abdul Kamara and Ronny Wakelin were both voted to the preseason all-conference squad after making an immediate impact during their debut collegiate seasons in 2024.
Kamara, a defender from London, England, anchored the Tiger backline in 15 matches last fall, making 14 starts and logging 1,264 minutes. He tallied five shots on the season while helping UWA's defense remain competitive in conference play.
Wakelin, a midfielder from Walsall, England, proved to be a steady contributor in the midfield, starting 14 of 15 matches and totaling 1,257 minutes. He recorded one goal and two assists for four points while generating 23 shots, with nearly half of those on frame (11).
Alongside the returning standouts, three new faces will look to make an early impact in Livingston, as goalkeeper Charlie Walker (Whitstable, United Kingdom/Coker University), defender Oisin Griffin (Waterford, Ireland), and forward Henry Donovan (Plymouth, England) were each selected to the GSC Newcomers Watchlist.
The Tigers open the 2025 campaign looking to build on their youthful foundation and continue climbing the conference standings with a mix of returning experience and fresh talent.
