Men’s Basketball Climbs to No.14 in NABC Coaches Poll

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team moved up to No. 14 in the NABC Coaches Poll on Tuesday. 

West Alabama made their debut in the top-25 on December 22 and made their ascension to No. 14 after defeating Williams Baptist, Christian Brothers, and Union this past week. The Tigers are currently riding an 11-game winning streak, moving their overall record to 13-1. 

14 games into the year, UWA currently ranks within the top-10 in seven different statistical categories, highlighted by their 41.7 percent three-point percentage which is the second best mark in the country. Also, with double-digit wins coming against the Eagles, Bucs, and Bulldogs this past week, the Tigers are now defeating teams by an average of 20 points which ranks ninth in the nation.

Individually, Christian Thompson and BJ Brown Jr. are within the top-10 in multiple individual categories. Thompson is one of the best rebounders in all of Division II, ranking third in the country with 11.1 rebounds per game. The Forward is snagging down 4.0 offensive rebounds per game which sits him sixth in the nation. 

For Brown Jr., he continues to shine as a playmaker as he ranks eighth in the country in assists with 5.9 per game. 

West Alabama will take their 11-game winning streak and No. 14 ranking on the road this week for matchups against AUM and Montevallo on Thursday and Saturday.
