LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team moved up to No. 14 in the NABC Coaches Poll on Tuesday.
West Alabama (20-3, 15-2 GSC) climbed back up to No. 14 after defeating Mississippi College and Delta State this past week. The Tigers' 86-81 victory over the Statesmen on Saturday pushed their win total to 20 which is the fastest UWA has reached 20 wins in school history.
As we reach the final stretch of the regular season, West Alabama remains in the top-10 nationally in three different statistical categories. The Tigers are out-rebounding team by an average of 9.5 boards per game which is the sixth best mark in the country. Offensively, UWA is shooting 39.6 percent from three, ranking eighth in the country while turning the ball over 9.9 times per contest which is fifth best in Division II.
Individually, Christian Thompson remains in the top-10 in rebounds, snagging 10.3 percent game. BJ Brown Jr. has recorded the ninth most assists in the country with 127, averaging 5.5 per game which ranks 13th. Brown Jr. is also one of ten players in the country to record a triple-double this season.
West Alabama is still the only GSC team in the rankings. The Tigers will take their No. 14 ranking on the road this week, taking on Union and Christian Brothers on Thursday and Saturday.
