LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team continues to make history early in the 2026 season, as the Tigers were ranked No. 25 in the latest Perfect Game Division II Top 25 Poll released Wednesday afternoon. The national recognition comes just one week after UWA was listed No. 5 in the NCBWA South Region Poll.
West Alabama is off to a program-best 7-0 start, riding a seven-game winning streak and building momentum with a balanced attack at the plate and dominant pitching on the mound.
As a team, the Tigers are hitting .310 with a .466 on-base percentage and a .478 slugging percentage, scoring 74 runs through seven games. UWA has totaled 72 hits, including eight home runs, while drawing 53 walks and swiping 14 bases in 15 attempts.
On the mound, the Tigers have been equally impressive, posting a 2.10 team ERA and holding opponents to a .200 batting average. UWA pitchers have struck out 53 batters over 60 innings while allowing just 14 earned runs.
West Alabama opened the season with a road series win at Columbus State before sweeping Albany State and Augusta during the UWA Invitational, including a dominant 15-1 victory over Augusta. The Tigers most recently powered past Tuskegee with a 21-1 win, further solidifying their national ranking.
With a perfect record, a regional top-five ranking, and now a spot in the national Top 25, the Tigers continue to set the tone early in 2026 as they prepare to enter Gulf South Conference play.
