BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of West Alabama indoor track & field teams wrapped up competition at the GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships with a thrilling final day performance, highlighted by a gold medal in the women's 4x400-meter relay and several individual podium finishes.
The quartet of Kilaya Lucien, Adria Burrell, Hayley Cook-Graham, and Jocelyn Randle delivered a championship effort in the women's 4x400-meter relay, claiming first place with a time of 3:57.18. The victory secured valuable team points and provided an electric finish to the meet for the Tigers.
In the women's 60-meter dash, UWA placed two athletes on the podium. J'Da Williams sprinted to a second-place finish in 7.55 seconds, while Adria Burrell followed closely behind in third with a time of 7.68.
On the men's side, Tyrie Payne turned in a strong showing in the men's 60-meter dash, earning a runner-up finish with a time of 6.92 seconds.
Williams added another medal to her weekend in the women's 200-meter dash, placing third with a time of 24.72. Randle and Burrell also scored in the event, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, to add to UWA's team total.
After a record-breaking, championship-filled two days, the Tigers concluded the indoor conference meet with momentum and multiple podium finishes, showcasing their depth and competitiveness on the GSC stage.
