Tigers Climb to No. 5 in NCBWA South Region Poll

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball continued its historic start to the 2026 season on Monday, checking in at No. 5 in the latest NCBWA South Region Poll after receiving votes a week ago.

The Tigers' rise into the top five comes on the heels of a program-best 6–0 start, marking the strongest opening stretch in West Alabama baseball history. UWA most recently capped off a perfect weekend with a dominant 15–1 victory over Augusta University on Sunday afternoon at Tartt Field, showcasing both its explosive offense and deep pitching staff.

Through six games, West Alabama has been firing on all cylinders, combining a .304 team batting average with a pitching staff that has posted a 2.29 ERA while holding opponents to a .220 clip. The Tigers have also been sharp defensively, committing just six errors on the season.

The No. 5 regional ranking represents another milestone for the program and reflects the momentum UWA has built early in the year against a competitive slate.

West Alabama will look to keep that momentum rolling on Tuesday, February 10, when the Tigers return to Tartt Field to host Tuskegee University in a non-conference matchup. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. as UWA aims to extend its unbeaten start and continue climbing the regional landscape.
