LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Riding the momentum of a historic start, the University of West Alabama baseball team returns to Tartt Field on Tuesday, February 10, to host Tuskegee University in a non-conference midweek contest. First pitch between the Tigers and Golden Tigers is set for 5 p.m.
West Alabama enters the matchup at 6–0, marking the first time in program history the Tigers have opened a season with six straight wins. UWA has combined explosive offense, dominant pitching, and steady defense during the early stretch and will look to keep that formula rolling at home. The Tigers also hold a 4–1 all-time advantage in the series against Tuskegee.
Offensively, West Alabama has been one of the most productive lineups in the region, batting .304 as a team with a .446 on-base percentage and .454 slugging percentage.
Nick Wilson has anchored the lineup, hitting .440 with three home runs and 10 RBIs, while
Rashad Robinson has been just as impactful, posting a .417 average with three homers, 11 RBIs, and a team-high 11 runs scored.
Hudson Walburn (.364),
Aaron Wallace (.318), and
Hayes Alford (.294) have added depth and consistency throughout the order as the Tigers average nearly nine runs per game.
On the mound, UWA's pitching staff has been equally impressive, owning a 2.29 team ERA and holding opponents to a .220 batting average.
Thomas Kerby has set the tone with a 0.79 ERA and a 2–0 record, while
Blake Westry and
Baker Green have provided quality starts early in the season. The bullpen has been a strength as well, led by
Tyler Pierce,
Nolan Phillips, and
Cade Miller, who have combined for multiple scoreless outings and late-inning shutdown performances.
Defensively, the Tigers have been sharp, fielding at a .972 clip with just six errors through six games, reinforcing their ability to win tight contests.
Tuskegee enters the game at 1–3 and will look to test West Alabama with an aggressive offensive approach. The Golden Tigers are batting .330 as a team, led by Chris Smith (.714) and Ryan Morrow (.500), while Terry Ware has provided pop with a home run and eight total bases. On the pitching side, Christian Baker has been Tuskegee's standout, owning a 1.29 ERA with 12 strikeouts in seven innings.
