LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The No. 5 West Alabama Tigers baseball saw movement across multiple national polls this week, highlighted by a rise in one ranking while slipping in two others.
West Alabama climbed to No. 8 in the D2 Baseball Top 25 poll, marking its highest placement of the week. The Tigers, however, dropped to No. 6 in the American Baseball Coaches Association poll and fell to No. 14 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25.
Regionally, the Tigers also shifted in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association rankings, moving down to No. 3 after holding the No. 2 spot for the past two weeks.
Despite the movement in the polls, West Alabama continues to build one of the strongest seasons in program history. The Tigers sit at 21-5 overall, marking the second-best start in program history and continuing to position themselves among the top teams in NCAA Division II.
The Tigers' success has been fueled by a dominant pitching staff that ranks among the nation's best. West Alabama is currently fifth in Division II with a 3.14 team ERA, while also ranking third nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (7.06). The Tigers are ninth in WHIP at 1.23, further emphasizing their ability to limit baserunners.
Defensively, West Alabama remains solid, posting a .975 fielding percentage, which is tied for 21st in the country.
With a strong resume and national recognition across all major polls, the Tigers will look to continue their momentum as they head deeper into Gulf South Conference play.
