Tigers Remain Among Nation’s Best Despite Slight Shift in National Polls

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama baseball saw a slight shift in the national rankings this week following a 2-2 stretch, but the Tigers remain firmly among the top teams in Division II baseball.

West Alabama dropped a midweek non-conference road contest to Montevallo before bouncing back in a big way over the weekend, taking two of three games on the road against Delta State to secure another Gulf South Conference series victory.

As a result, the Tigers moved to No. 8 in the ABCA Coaches Poll, No. 12 in the D2 Baseball Top 25, and No. 16 in the NCBWA National Poll.

Despite the slight drop, West Alabama continues to rank among the nation's elite, thanks in large part to its consistency on the mound. The Tigers currently sit seventh in Division II with a 3.62 team ERA, showcasing one of the most reliable pitching staffs in the country.

UWA has also been dominant in limiting opposing offenses, ranking 10th nationally in hits allowed per nine innings at 7.73. The Tigers' ability to keep runners off base has been equally impressive, as they rank 12th in the nation in WHIP with a 1.32.

The combination of strong pitching and timely hitting has kept West Alabama in a strong position nationally, even with a split week. The series win over Delta State highlighted the Tigers' resilience, responding after a midweek setback to secure another key conference series on the road.

With the season continuing to unfold, West Alabama will look to build on its national standing and climb back up the polls as Gulf South Conference play continues.
