LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Rodeo program makes their return to competition this weekend at Murray State's Home Rodeo.
Murray State's Rodeo is set to begin on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and will conclude on Saturday night.
The Men's team begins the Spring Schedule in second place in the Ozark Region rankings with 1,985 total points while the Women's squad sits in third with 653.33 total points.
In their last time out, both teams placed second at the UARM Rodeo as the Men's team closed with 490 points while the Women poured in 273.3 points.
During the UARM Rodeo, Clarke Gordon, Greyson Wells, and Tanner Brown showcased their talents in the Tie Down Roping. The trio advanced to the Championship round, with Gordon placing second with 140 points while Wells came in third with 120. Canyon Trevino shined in the Bull Riding event, finishing second with 125 points.
On the Women's side, Ivy Bone and Sydney Poole excelled in the Breakaway Roping event. Bone was deemed the winner after registering an event-high 145 points while Poole placed third with 103.3 points. Poole also bolstered UWA's point total in the Barrel Racing event as the senior won the event with 170 points.
Coming into the spring season, West Alabama's Men's Team currently has nine wranglers in the top-five within the Ozark Individual event standings.
Stone Reeves has been the Tigers' top points getter thus far, ranking fourth in the Ozark All-Around leaderboard with 425 points. Kota Wilhite is the top Tie Down Roper in the Region as he leads the field with 270 total points. Reeves and Tyler Lovering follow closely behind with 170 and 160 points, ranking fourth and fifth in the region, respectively. Teigan Orr is fourth in the Steer Wrestling event with 210 points while Sam McBride and Gordan rank within the top-five as Team Roping Headers. As Heelers, Reeves and Brown rank second and fifth, respectively.
On the Women's side, Allie Sherman and Poole lead the way. With 250 points in the Barrel Racing event this season, Sherman ranks second in the Region and only trails the top spot by 20 points. As for Poole, she's ranked second in the Ozark in the Breakaway Roping event with 198.3 points while also sitting right outside of the top-five in the Barrel Racing with 190 points.
To round out West Alabama, Bone is sixth in the Breakaway Roping event with 145 points, while Summerlin O'Neill sits in sixth with 100 points. In the Goat Tying event, Meah Pinter sits in the eighth spot with 115 points.
