MURRAY, Ky. - The University of West Alabama Women's and Men's Rodeo team placed second at Murray State's Home Rodeo on Saturday night.
The West Alabama Men closed in second place after accumulating 595 points while the Women's team also placed second with 220 points.
WEST ALABAMA MEN'S RODEO: 595 points
Tanner Brown led the way for the Tigers as the Cowboy garnered 315 points, staring in the Team Roping and Tie Down Roping events. Brown was deemed the Tie Down Roper winner after a 155-point effort while finishing second in the Team Roping event with 160 along with his partner Clarke Gordon. Gordon also joined Brown in the Championship Round in the Tie Down Roping, closing with 70 points in the event.
Evan Bourdon, Austin Brooks, and Teigan Orr advanced to the Championship Round in the Steer Wrestling event. Bourdon led the way with 130 points while Brooks turned in 70 points. Tyler Lovering participated in the Championship Round in the Team Roping event, accumulating 50 points to add to West Alabama's total.
The Tigers' 595 points placed them above third place, Murray State, while finishing 225 points away from first place, MVC.
WEST ALABAMA WOMEN'S RODEO: 220 Points
Madison Murphy and Ashley Teems shined for the Tigers. Murphy made her mark in the Barrel Racing event, placing second with 130 points. Ty Fleming, Darby Toole, Millie Joe Rosenberg, and Allie Sherman all joined Murphy in the Championship Round as the quartet combined for 105 total points. As for Teems, she thrived in the Breakaway Roping event, securing an event-high 120 points.
In the Goat Tying event, Meah Pinter made it to the Championship Round and accumulated 90 points. Pinter was alongside Erin McLaughlin who also advanced to the Championship Round. Along with her championship appearance in the Goat Tying, Pinter represented UWA in the Team Roping event and garnered 50 points.
With 220 points, the Tigers finished above UARM and were just 15 points away from first place, Murray State.
West Alabama Rodeo will be back in action next weekend for East Mississippi CC's Home Rodeo.
