LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama track and field teams are set to take the center stage this weekend as they host the UWA Invitational on April 11, 2026, at the Jerry F. Smith Track and Field Complex.
With a full schedule of events ahead, the meet provides the Tigers with a great opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a home crowd.
The meet kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with field events where UWA will look for strong performances in the throws and jumps. Avery Peterson will be active in the hammer throw, shot put, and discus, while Jaxson Lovelace and Caleb Vann will have a packed day competing in the long jump, high jump, triple jump, and javelin. The javelin group, featuring Sammie Jordan, Lovelace, and Ethan Michael, will be one to watch as the Tigers aim to set the time early.
On the track, the action ramps up quickly with distance events before transitioning into sprints and relays. The women's 4 x 100-meter relay team showcasing J'Da Williams, Jocelyn Randle, D'Kota Hudson, and Adria Burrell will be a key highlight, while Williams will also double back in the 100-meter dash later in the day. Her speed will be crucial for UWA in both events as she looks to make an impact on her own track.
Jalen Green is another athlete to watch, competing in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. His versatility across hurdle events adds depth to the Tigers' lineup and positions him as a strong contributor in multiple races.
The sprint will be packed with Tiger talent, with athletes Nicholas Nash, Tyrese Pitts, Lawrence Walker Jr., Lovelace, and Ahmerion Williams lining up in the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes, while the women's side features Burrell, Hudson, Kacey Green, Randle, Kilaya Lucien, Gabriel Stephens, and Williams. Abigail Vega and Mercy Lomuria will represent UWA in the 1500 and 800 meters. As the day winds down, the women's team will compete in the 4 x 400-meter relay featuring Lucian, Jamaya Dancy, Haley Cook-Graham, and Randle. The men's 3000-meter run with Lorenzo Pulusi and Jonathan Philips, and the women's 3000-meter run, showcasing Grace Gosline and Vega, will bring the day to a close for the Tigers.
Adding to the excitement this week, both J'Da Williams and Jaleb Green earned GSC Freshman of the Week Honors, a testament to their success and growing impact on the team.
The UWA Invitational promises an exciting day of competition at the Jerry F. Smith Track and Field Complex, as the Tigers take advantage of the home track to showcase their skills and continue to move forward in their season.
