LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The No. 10 West Alabama Tigers baseball added another milestone to its 2026 campaign on Wednesday, as the program was included in the first release of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
The initial rankings, which are listed in alphabetical order, featured a strong presence from the Gulf South Conference. West Alabama was joined by conference foes Delta State, Lee, Mississippi College, Montevallo, Trevecca Nazarene, and West Florida, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of the league across the South Region.
Also earning a place in the rankings were three representatives from the Sunshine State Conference, Florida Southern, Rollins, and Tampa rounding out a talented regional field.
West Alabama enters the regional conversation with an impressive résumé. The Tigers hold a 32-12 overall record, including a 30-11 mark in regional play and a 21-9 record in GSC action.Â
Their consistent performance has kept them firmly in the national spotlight, currently sitting inside the top 15 across all three major national polls.
Additionally, the Tigers have been ranked No. 2 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region poll for three consecutive weeks, further solidifying their standing as one of the top teams in the region.
With future NCAA regional rankings set to shift from alphabetical listings to performance-based order, West Alabama is in a strong position to climb near the top when the next release is announced. As the regular season comes to a close this weekend, beginning on Friday, April 24th with a doubleheader against UAH at 12:00 & 3:00 PM.
