LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama volleyball middle blocker Duru Seber has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for Week 3, the league announced Tuesday.
Seber's honor gives West Alabama a sweep of the conference's first three Freshman of the Week awards of the 2026 season. Rachele Zanini earned the award in each of the first two weeks before Seber continued the streak with this week's recognition.
The redshirt freshman has provided another weapon in the middle for the Tigers during their strong start to the season. Seber delivered one of her top performances against Albany State, recording eight kills on 11 attacks without an error for a .727 hitting percentage while adding two block assists. UWA swept the Golden Rams 25-16, 25-12, 25-15.
The recognition adds to an impressive opening stretch for West Alabama's young players, with Zanini and Seber combining to claim all three GSC Freshman of the Week honors awarded this season.
West Alabama enters the week 12-1 overall and turns its attention to Gulf South Conference play, hosting Mississippi College on Friday, Sept. 18, at Pruitt Hall. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
