LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama men's soccer standout David Nunez has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Nunez continued his standout stretch for the Tigers last week, totaling seven points across two matches, highlighted by a hat trick and an assist in UWA's 8-2 victory over Harding on Sunday.

The senior forward opened the week against Lee on Sept. 16, recording three shots and one shot on goal in 90 minutes of action.

Nunez then delivered a record-breaking performance against Harding, finding the back of the net three times while adding an assist. He finished the match with three shots, all three of which were on target, while converting each of his attempts for a perfect 1.000 shot and shots-on-goal percentage.

His three-goal performance marked his second hat trick of the season and tied the program record for goals by an individual in a match. Nunez's effort helped the Tigers match a program record with eight goals in the 8-2 victory. And because of his three goal, one assists performance, Nunez now holds the record for most points scored in a game in UWA program history. He now moves to second all-time in goals scored at UWA, second all-time in points scored, tied for third all-time in shots taken, third all-time in shots on goal, and remains fourth in assists.

Through the two matches, Nunez totaled three goals, one assist, seven points, six shots and four shots on goal while playing 140 minutes.

The weekly honor marks Nunez's second consecutive GSC Player of the Week award.

Nunez and the Tigers return to action Wednesday when they host Delta State in GSC play at 7:30 p.m. at the UWA Soccer Field.
