LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
After suffering a pair of setbacks on the road at Valdosta State on Thursday night, the University of West Alabama basketball squads return home to face Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia on Saturday. The UWA women will get under way at 5 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 7 p.m.

Both games will be available via live stats and a live video stream at www.uwaathletics.com.

On the women's side, UWA returns to Pruitt Hall looking for its first GSC win of the season and to snap a six game losing streak after falling 61-43 at VSU on Thursday evening. Latashia Greer scored 16 points to lead the Tigers, who fell to 3-16 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Dadeville, Ala.-junior has scored in double figures eight times this season. Erin Courington paced the Red and White on the glass with eight rebounds, tying a career mark that the Locust Fork, Ala-sophomore achieved in the season opener. Greer continues to pace the offense with 17.3 points per game while also leading the way on the glass averaging 7.5 boards. UWG enters after claiming a 62-38 win over UAH on Thursday evening. Whitley Mayberry, who led the way for UWG with 16 points on the Thursday night, is averaging 17.9 points per contest this season.

The Tiger men look to rebound from a 92-55 loss to the No. 8 Blazers of VSU on Thursday. UWA enters the Saturday contest with a 10-9 overall mark and 1-2 in the GSC. The Wolves of UWG (9-9, 1-2 GSC) dropped a 74-56 decision to UAH in its last outing. Even though senior forward Jason Swanson was held to a season-low four points at VSU, the Troy, Ala-native continues to lead the Tigers in scoring at 14.8 points per contest. UWA redshirt freshman Ryan Fitch has been an added spark offensively as he has posted 9.5 points per game since entering the starting line up against West Florida. UWG is paced by senior John Pringle's 14.2 scoring average. The Red and White have claimed two of the last three meetings with UWG after splitting the season series for the past two seasons.

After Saturday, UWA closes out the first half of the GSC season against UAH in Huntsville on Saturday, Jan. 30.
