LIVINGSTON, Ala. – 
The University of West Alabama will close out the first half of the Gulf South Conference East Division hoops slate on Saturday, Jan. 30, in Huntsville, Ala. to face the Chargers of UAH. The women's duel will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men's tilt at 7 p.m.
 
Both games will be aired on Fox Sports 104.9 FM and will be streamed at www.uwaathletics.com. A live stats link and video link will also be available.
 
UWA claimed its first GSC victory of the season, a 50-49 win over West Georgia last weekend. UWA leads the series against the Lady Chargers, 23-15, including the last six consecutive victories. The Red and White is 5-3 in the last eight contests at Spragins Hall, entering the Saturday evening contest.
 
Latashia Greer continues to pace the Tigers. The Dadeville, Ala.-junior sports a 17 point scoring clip while averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. Greer recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win over UWG. It marked the ninth contest in double figures for the season for Greer and her fourth straight.
 
UAH enters the outing riding a six-game losing streak after falling 61-49 at Valdosta State last weekend. Monica Boatwright, Candace Lee and Marissa Carter each hover around 10 points per game to lead the Blue and White in scoring. Amber Whitt paces UAH on the glass with 6.8 rebounds per contest followed by 6.6 boards an outing from Renita Lewis.
 
The Tiger men (10-10, 1-3 GSC East) look to snap a two-game losing skid after suffering setbacks to Valdosta State and West Georgia. The Chargers of UAH enter the contest 14-5 overall and a game back of VSU atop the GSC East standings at 3-1. UAH ranks 10th in the initial NCAA Regional rankings of the season, released this week by the NCAA Committee. UWA continues to be one of the top three-point shooting team in league as it ranks second with a .414 clip from behind the arc. The Chargers rank in the top five in three-point shooting defense, allowing the opposition just .320 shooting from the outside. UWA senior forward Jason Swansonaveraged a double-double last week after posting a 12 scoring mark and pulling down 10.5 rebounds. The Troy, Ala.-product leads the Red and White in scoring at 15.1 points per contest. Senior guard Richard Sirjuranks as the GSC leader in three-point shooting percentage (.414). The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-native averages 2.9 treys per contest.
 
UAH is paced by the reigning GSC Freshman of the Year, Josh Magette. The sophomore has dished out 126 assists this season and adds 10.2 points per contest.
 
UWA returns home for a rare Wednesday night GSC East contest against West Florida on Feb. 3. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. at Pruitt Hall.
