Tiger Basketball Drops 87-50 Decision to Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Playing in its second game in as many days, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team (1-5) ran into a tough Bucknell squad Saturday, falling to the Bison by a score of 87-50.

UWA struggled to overcome a 27-percent shooting performance for the game, making just 17-of-62 shots. Meanwhile, the Bisons made 17 three-pointers to go along with a 50 percent mark from the field.

Bucknell set the tone for the game in the initial three minutes, scoring the contest's first six points. After a three-pointer from freshman guard Jacob Acker, the Tigers were held scoreless until a layup at the 13:38 mark by forward Marcus Heidelberg. The low-scoring first half continued for UWA as the team went to the break trailing 48-25.

It was much of the same in the second half as the Tigers failed to overcome the 23-point halftime deficit, eventually falling by the 87-50 final.

For the game, the Tigers were led by junior guard Phillip Morris who led the team in both points (11) and rebounds (6). No other UWA player scored in double figures, while four Bucknell players scored in double digits with Bryson Johnson's 27 points.

The Tigers now face Princeton in the final game of the Legends Classic before heading home to face Columbus State on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
