Tyreek Hill Earns First-Team AFCA All-America Honors

WACO, Texas – West Alabama return specialist Tyreek Hill has been selected as a member of the 2015 American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-America Football Team.
 
A senior from Douglas, Georgia, Hill is one of two players from the Gulf South Conference selected to the team. Shorter defensive back Jordan Shaw is the other.
 
The AFCA's Division II All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's seven districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
 
In his only season as a Tiger, Hill accounted for 1,403 all-purpose yards on the way to earning All-Gulf South Conference and All Super Region 2 honors as well.
 
Hill returned 20 kickoffs for 465 yards and two touchdowns and 20 punts for 257 yards and a pair of scores. He averaged 23.25 yards per kickoff return and 12.85 yards per punt return.
 
As a slot receiver/running back, Hill carried the ball 25 times for 237 yards (9.50 ypc) and a TD. He caught 27 passes for 444 yards and three scores, averaging 16.44 yards per reception.
